suSCon Green Soil Insecticide is unique in that for long term control it does not rely on an active ingredient that is highly persistent, raising environmental issues, but instead has an innovative system that releases the active ingredient regularly over two years.

Fargro confirm that a replacement formulation for suSCon Green is scheduled to be phased in at the end of 2010.

suSCon Green has been the mainstay of vine weevil control in containerised ornamentals since it’s introduction in 1992 and has proved to be highly effective over a two-year control period.

The active ingredient, chlorpyrifos, has been approved on to the EU Annex 1 list, but the manufacturers of suSCon Green have decided to replace the active ingredient with a brand new formulation.

The change from suSCon Green to the new product has been under development for a number of years and its planned introduction will be managed to ensure that there are no gaps in the supply of a controlled release long-term vine weevil control for the UK nursery stock industry.
